Student Impact

Drop Out Prevention

College and career exploration is a proven strategy for reducing dropouts among high poverty youth.  Students who see that a college degree is essential to pursing a desired career are six times more likely to receive a college degree than those who do not. CCC’s OnTrack! program supports youth during the difficult transition from eight to ninth grade, when most students are deciding whether or not to continue with their education or drop out.

Many organizations work with youth later in high school as they apply to college, but few intervene early enough in the process to ensure students actually enter high school already thinking about what they want for their futures, and with an understanding of how education can help them achieve that future.
